Happy spring! Spring is a time for renewal and warmer temperatures. The warmer weather is almost upon us! Inspecting your home on a regular basis and following proper maintenance practices are the best way to protect your investment and can put a stop to the most common problems before they occur. Below are a few easy things you can do to make sure your home is in tip top shape this spring.

-  Test your A/C now before the weather gets warmer and remember to change interior filters often

-   Clean/replace heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) filters and clean dryer vent exhaust ducts

-   Test GFCI/AFCI receptacles and outlets

-   Clean the range hood filter

   Carefully test the temperature and pressure relief valve of your hot water tank to ensure it's not stuck

-    Clean dehumidifier and drain

-   Check smoke carbon monoxide and security alarms. Replace batteries

-    Check and clean or replace furnace filter each month during the heating season

-    Ventilation system, such as heat recovery ventilator, filters should be checked every 2 months

 -   Clean windows, screens and hardware

-    Examine your foundation walls for cracks, leak or signs of moisture

-    Check outside hose faucets for freeze damage

 -   Ensure your sump pump is operating properly

 -   Check for loose or leaky gutters

-  Make sure downspouts drain away from the foundation and clear and free from debris
